Maryville – Then and Now

Originally, the land that now is known as Maryville was nothing more than a small settlement at Fort Craig on Pistol Creek, in Blount County. The county was named for the governor, and Maryville was named for his wife, Mary. The city of Maryville was established in 1795, approximately one year before Tennessee officially became a state. Unfortunately, many of Maryville’s original buildings were destroyed during Civil War fires, but the original courthouse remains intact today. Other buildings have been deemed historic sites and preservation efforts continue today.

What first drew early settlers to the Maryville area is not entirely different from what continues to draw new residents even now. Breathtaking scenery, natural water springs and an abundance of flowering plants create a truly spectacular living space. The nearby Smoky Mountains add majestic ambiance plus a variety of recreational activities. Your Maryville, TN Realtors can provide additional information about things to see and do in the area, as well as local schools, shopping, dining, and city services.

The climate of Maryville is quite enjoyable, with mild winters, blossoming springs, warm, humid summers, and magnificent autumn foliage. Many properties on the Maryville, TN MLS listings include outstanding landscaping, including wooded lots. Whether you prefer to purchase an established home or build from scratch, let Marty Loveday & Associates and his associated Realtors in Maryville, TN assist you in finding the perfect choice for your new home.
